Long-Range Exploration Capability

The 1996 ABD 90 Explorer combines a 90-foot aluminum hull with a 23.5-foot beam, a 10,300-gallon fuel tank and a recorded cruising speed of 9 knots. The yacht has a stated range of nearly 5,000 nautical miles and has completed a circumnavigation, logging more than 50,000 nautical miles between the Mediterranean, South Pacific and West Coast.

Custom zero-speed stabilizers, lead-ballasted beavertails, a Pat Bray-designed extended bulbous bow and strategically placed ballast form part of the hull configuration. The 1996 ABD 90 Explorer also carries a 7.42-foot minimum draft, a 1,450-gallon water tank and a 500-gallon holding tank.

Private Quarters and Interior Joinery

The upper deck contains the owner’s suite, a private covered deck, a dedicated office and separate his-and-hers bathrooms. The main deck places en-suite guest cabins within the guest accommodation arrangement.

Accommodation comprises three cabins, two crew cabins and five bathrooms. Mahogany raised-panel wainscoting and Brazilian cherry, or Jatobá, flooring define the interior finish, while teak decking finishes the exterior walking surfaces.

Decks for Time on the Water

A covered top deck, bow deck and California-style aft deck create distinct exterior areas across the yacht. The 1996 ABD 90 Explorer carries a heavy-duty crane arranged for a 30-foot dive boat, an additional tender and two jet skis.

The dive setup includes a compressor and racks for 10 tanks. Multiple kayaks and fishing gear complete the yacht’s water-based equipment inventory.

Machinery Access and Propulsion

A dedicated lower machinery deck provides direct access for engine work and routine onboard service. Twin Caterpillar 3406B-TA engines, each rated at 620 hp, provide the yacht’s propulsion.
