Waterjet propulsion and helm control

The 2016 Wally Wallypower 52 pairs twin Volvo Penta D11 725 hp diesel engines with an MJP Hybrid 300 waterjet system. MJP waterjet controls include a joystick, while a Sidepower bow thruster and Zipwake trim-tab system add further control at low speed and underway.

The helm combines oiled teak and carbon fiber with Raymarine Axiom XL 16 chartplotter/radar displays, a Garmin GPSMap 7612 engine-control display, Simrad AP70 autopilot, Raymarine AIS650 AIS transceiver and RayMic260E VHF. A FLIR T453 dual-camera thermal camera and two FLIR AX8 engine-room cameras feed into the Axiom displays.

Open deck with a convertible foredeck lounge

Teak decking extends across the aft and side decks, cockpit and bow seating area. An open transom, removable stainless-steel swim ladder and broad cockpit circulation connect the water, deck and pilothouse.

The foredeck centres on a U-shaped seating area with a table on a three-stage telescoping pedestal that converts the space into a sun lounge. Lockers beneath the seating, three cockpit-deck lockers and a large lazarette provide stowage, while tall bulwarks run forward and around the cockpit.

The anchor arrangement combines a 44 lb stainless-steel Delta anchor, stainless-steel chain and rope rode, and a Lewmar horizontal electric windlass with controls at the helm and in the anchor locker. A hot-and-cold deck shower is fitted in the anchor locker.

Glass-enclosed pilothouse and galley

The pilothouse places a U-shaped dinette and oiled-teak table opposite the helm, with a galley to port. Large forward and side windows, pantograph windshield wipers and a removable Eisenglass aft curtain enclose the space, while a push-button roof pivots aft for ventilation.

The galley includes dual Vitrifrigo drawer refrigerator/freezers, a Vitrifrigo icemaker, a Foster two-burner induction cooktop and an undermounted stainless-steel sink with a hot-and-cold pull-up faucet. Lockers and drawers beneath the galley counter and dinette seating provide onboard storage.

The forward companionway leads to a main cabin with seating that converts to a berth, plus an attached head and separate shower stall. A utility space beneath the helm adds dedicated storage for cushions and gear.

Onboard utility systems

A Cummins Onan 11.5 kW generator supports the onboard electrical system, alongside eight NorthStar Pro AGM 135 Ah batteries and three Mastervolt ChargeMaster battery chargers. Frigomar reverse-cycle air conditioning and heating serve the interior.

The engine room includes Racor dual fuel filters with a vacuum gauge and water-in-fuel alarm, a Fireboy automatic fire-suppression system, Rule 2000 automatic electric bilge pumps, a manual bilge pump and an engine-room blower system. Underwater exhaust, a 525-gallon fuel tank, a 100-gallon fresh-water tank, a 30-gallon grey-water tank and a holding tank form part of the yacht’s mechanical installation.
