Enclosed pilothouse, open connection aft

The 2021 MJM 53z centers daily life around a fully enclosed pilothouse that runs on one level into the aft cockpit. Opening windshields, side windows, a rear door and a rear window bring ventilation and an open-air feel to the protected main deck.

The helm area includes helm and passenger seating, with a U-shaped settee and table to starboard and a full-length settee to port. The aft cockpit continues the social layout with a fixed settee, two movable matching seats and a gloss-varnished teak table.

Cherry-finished accommodation

The interior carries cherry joinerwork with paneled or louvered cabinet doors, solid drawer fronts and solid trim in satin varnish. Gloss teak cabin soles with wenge inlays, removable soft-white overhead panels and removable laid-teak-pattern sole covers give the accommodation a detailed, tailored finish.

The forward cabin is arranged around a fixed island queen berth with a memory-foam mattress in quilted Ultrasuede, below-berth drawers, outboard shelves, hanging lockers and a cherry desk or dressing table. The forward cabin also includes a reading chair, a full-length dressing mirror, fixed hull portlights, an opening portlight and two large overhead hatches.

The guest cabin contains a double berth with a memory-foam mattress in UltraLeather, a fold-down desk, reading chair, side table and private access to the guest/day head. Custom bedspreads, mattress covers, shams and accent pillows furnish both cabins.

Galley and private washrooms

The port-side galley sits two steps below the pilothouse and combines Corian work surfaces with a recessed sink, cutting-board cover and pullout faucet. A Vitrifrigo stainless 5.5-cubic-foot two-drawer refrigerator, top-access Isotherm freezer compartment, Wolf two-burner induction cooktop and Breville toaster oven support the galley arrangement.

Galley storage includes three organized flatware and utensil drawers, a drop-front trash bin, an under-counter locker and upper cabinets along an extended shelf with a grab-rail fiddle. A skylight hatch and opening portlight add natural light and ventilation.

The owner’s ensuite and guest/day head each feature a Corian counter with an oval sink, a glass-enclosed shower with seat, a Dometic freshwater-flush electric toilet and under-sink storage. Overhead hatches and opening portlights with screens and shades bring light and air into both washrooms.

Deck circulation

The cockpit provides side-entry doors on both sides for dock access. Transom doors on both sides lead down to the swim platform, while the pilothouse-to-cockpit arrangement keeps the main deck connected from helm to stern.
