Power independence and water systems

The 2016 Fountaine Pajot SABA 50 carries a 12V 1,200Ah Victron lithium battery bank installed in January 2025, a 5kW Victron inverter installed in January 2025, and a separate 250W Victron inverter for the communications system. Four solar panels deliver 1,600W through two Victron solar chargers, while a Victron Cerbo provides remote system monitoring.

A 13.5kW Onan generator, 240VAC 50A shore power, automatic shore-to-generator transfer switching and galvanic isolation form part of the electrical installation. The freshwater system combines a 185-gallon tank, dual pressure pumps arranged for rapid changeover, a 16-gallon Quick water heater and a Spectra 400 watermaker rated at 16 gallons per hour.

Six Dometic HVAC units serve the accommodation and saloon, with one unit in each cabin and two in the saloon.

Sail plan and deck operation

The sailing inventory includes an 899-square-foot Incidence square-top mainsail, a 619-square-foot Incidence headsail and a North Sails Code 0 with sock and Profurl continuous furler on a fixed bowsprit. New main halyard and topping lift were fitted in 2023, and a new asymmetric halyard was fitted in 2024.

Five Lewmar winches manage sail and deck work: three at the helm, including one powered winch, a port-aft winch for the Code 0 and a powered winch for the dinghy davits. Twin Volvo D2-75 engines drive through SD150 saildrives with fixed propellers, and Racor filters serve the fuel system.

The ground-tackle arrangement centres on an 88lb Rocna anchor, a Quick 1,500W windlass with helm switch, and 250 feet of 12mm G4 Acco galvanized chain plus 50 feet of rope. Three bridles and a Delta backup anchor complete the anchoring equipment.

Saloon, cockpit and galley

A flush-deck transition connects the main saloon and cockpit, where Flexiteak decking, a Vitrifrigo refrigerator/freezer and a cockpit movie screen extend the living area. A full helm enclosure, cockpit, helm, sky-lounge and foredeck cushions renewed in spring 2025, and a V-shaped Canopee foredeck shade shape the exterior spaces.

The galley is fitted with a large dual-basin sink, an Elba four-burner propane cooktop, Breville electric convection oven, GE microwave, Isotherm dual-drawer refrigerator and Isotherm four-drawer freezer. A Raritan ice maker was installed in 2025, while a Magma Catalina grill and two propane tanks support cooking on deck.

The four-cabin arrangement is complemented by four Sanimarine electric toilets and one Jabsco manual toilet. Five 12-gallon black-water tanks use SCAD level sensors.

Navigation, communications and tender

Two Raymarine es127 chartplotters place one display at the helm and one at the interior navigation station. Raymarine autopilot, radar, AIS and VHF equipment join a Standard Horizon handheld VHF, while a port-transom docking camera feeds the Raymarine displays.

A Starlink Gen 2 dish and Peplink Max Duo 4G cellular router support onboard communications. A 12-foot AB tender with a 20HP Yamaha outboard is carried with an engine hoist and stowage mount; tender equipment also includes a NaviSafe tri-colour navigation light, Mantis anchor, claw anchor and three additional fuel cans.
