Centerboard keel, ketch rig and twin-diesel drive
The Shannon 52 RDP carries a shoal-draft keel with a retractable centerboard. Draft is approximately 5 ft 7 in with the centerboard raised and 9 ft 7 in with it lowered, while bridge clearance is 64 ft.
Twin 75 HP Yanmar 4JH4-TE diesel engines are paired with Gori three-blade folding propellers with Overdrive. A bow thruster, twin engine installation and dual steering stations form part of the yacht’s manoeuvring arrangement.
The cutter-rigged ketch sail plan includes main, mizzen, genoa, jib and yankee sails. Cockpit-led sail controls, a wide traveller, electric winches and one-line reefing concentrate sail handling at the cockpit.
Three-stateroom interior
The interior includes three private staterooms, two heads with separate stall showers, a raised pilothouse saloon, a dedicated navigation area and a passageway galley. Varnished cherry joinery, teak-and-holly sole, leather cushions and olive-wood galley countertops define the interior finish.
The full-beam aft master stateroom has a king/queen-size berth, storage, opening ports and an en-suite head with stall shower. The port guest cabin serves as a sea berth while underway, and the aft lazarette provides stowage for cruising gear, spares, fenders and offshore equipment.
Onboard systems and later equipment
The yacht carries a Kohler 9EK0ZD 9 kW generator, four engine alternators, a Spectra Catalina 300 watermaker, Starlink High Speed, an Icom M424G VHF with command mic and a Splendide vented washer/dryer. Isotherm 160 refrigerator/freezer units serve the galley.
ROAM received a Lofrans windlass, Rocna 55 anchor, Fortress 47 anchor and 7/16 in chain in 2019, together with a composite bowsprit, Bomar hatches, ballistic-glass windows, opening ports and chainplates. Doyle main and mizzen sails were fitted in 2021, Ullman genoa and jib sails in 2024, and house and starting batteries in 2024.
Off White AwlGrip topsides and a bottom job were completed in February 2026. An Achilles RIB with a Yamaha 9.9 HP outboard accompanies the yacht in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
