Enclosed cockpit and helm

The 2005 Cruisers Yachts 520 Express pairs a hardtop with skylight, a full camper-canvas enclosure, air conditioning and heat in the cockpit. A walk-through windshield with handrail connects the helm area to the foredeck, where sun-lounge cushions are fitted.

The cockpit combines dual helm seats, a portside companion lounge, a transom bench seat and a cockpit table. A wet bar incorporates a hot-and-cold sink, grill, and U-Line refrigerator/ice maker, while SeaDek flooring, a transom shower, swim platform and boarding ladder complete the exterior arrangement.

The helm carries Raymarine HybridTouch GPS/chartplotter, depth and radar functions, a Raymarine ST8001 autopilot, ICOM M502 VHF, Volvo Penta electronic monitoring gauges, bow-thruster controls, Bennett trim tabs and a remote spotlight.

Cherry-finished salon and galley

The cabin opens from cherry entry treads into a salon with cherrywood joinery, a large U-shaped sofa with double recliner, flat-screen television, expandable dining table and four overhead storage cabinets. Portholes with curtains, carpet with a runner and a central vacuum system serve the main living area.

The portside galley features solid-surface counters, cherry cabinet doors, a double stainless-steel sink with spray faucet, a two-burner electric cooktop and a Sharp Carousel microwave/convection oven. A Nova Cool stainless-steel side-by-side refrigerator/freezer, wine cooler and chiller, coffee maker, exhaust fan and extensive cabinet and drawer storage support the galley.

Two private accommodation zones

The midship primary stateroom centers on a walk-around queen island berth and receives light and ventilation through six vertical opening ports. The space includes nightstands, a dresser, cedar-lined clothes locker, flat-screen television, Blaupunkt CD player, washer/dryer combination and dedicated storage.

The ensuite primary head includes a shower with bench seat, tile floor, Tecma quiet-flush toilet, solid-surface vanity with molded sink, mirrored medicine cabinets, exhaust fan and holding-tank level gauge.

The forward guest stateroom has split berths, drawer storage, a hanging locker, cedar-lined locker space and overhead cherry cabinets. Its guest head has a separate shower stall, Tecma quiet-flush toilet, vanity, mirrored medicine cabinet, exhaust fan and access from both the stateroom and companionway.

Propulsion and onboard systems

Twin Volvo diesel engines provide propulsion, with power steering, Volvo single-lever shifters, fresh-water cooling and dripless shaft seals. A bow thruster, electric anchor windlass with plow anchor and chain counter, and an engine oil-change system are installed.

The engineering spaces include reverse-cycle air conditioning, an automatic fire-extinguishing system, fuel filters, automatic bilge pumps and an Onan generator with sound shield. Shore-power service is supplied through a 50-amp, 250-volt, 90-foot retractable cord, while two automatic battery chargers and an AC/DC master panel with voltmeters support the electrical system.
